State Representative Dan Flynn is a Christian conservative representing Hunt, Hopkins and Van Zandt counties in the Texas House of Representatives.
Dan Flynn was named a Faith & Family Champion by Texas Values. He has authored bills to allow the Ten Commandments to be posted in our classrooms and a bill to allow ministers and JPs the right of recusal from the performance of certain marriage ceremonies that violate their religious beliefs.
Dan Flynn was named Legislator of the Year by the NRA/TSRA for his leadership in protecting our Second Amendment Freedoms. He authored a bill this session to protect the right to carry in church and was a co-author of legislation allowing open carry and legislation to lower the fees for CHLs & LTCs.
A pro-life conservative, Dan Flynn is endorsed by the Texas Alliance for Life who recognize him as a staunch defender of the unborn. He has authored or co-authored dozens of pro-life bills during his time in office.
A strong advocate for border security, Dan Flynn worked closely with Governor Abbott to provide more resources for law enforcement to enhance border security.
Dan Flynn is currently serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Defense & Veterans’ Affairs. He is proud of the work this committee has done to improve services for veterans.
A U.S. Army veteran, Dan also served in the Texas State Guard where he was promoted by Governor Greg Abbott to Brigadier General. He was awarded The Texas Distinguished Star Award by the Texas Adjutant General, the highest award for Texas Military Service.
Dan Flynn enjoyed a distinguished career in the banking industry of Texas, including serving as the Deputy Banking Commissioner for the State of Texas.
Prior to his election to the Texas House of Representatives, he served as County Judge of Van Zandt County. Dan has three grown children and five grandchildren. He and his wife Susan live in Van.
