Tile Patterns Not only color combinations but combinations of tiling patterns can be used. Such as diamond pattern followed by a border and then a simple rectangular arrangement. Floors can be equally creative with diamond, square, rectangular and brick work patterns. If using a rectangular tile, aligning the longer tile dimension with smallest room dimension tends to expand the perception of that room dimension. The reverse is equally true, and in this manner a bathroom can be made appear wider or narrower. How much pattern effect could be used to achieve an optimal result would depend to a large extent on the size of the bathroom. Tile Material Conventionally, ceramic and marble tiles have been used in bathrooms. Both materials are relatively cheap, widely available and easy to work with in the sense that cutting tools are readily obtainable. Tile material trend is fast changing in favor of porcelain as opposed to the more common marble and ceramic tile. With the projected sales of porcelain tiles to double within the next ten years. These tiles are nonporous, extremely hard, and show little signs of wear even in high traffic areas. So any bathrooms fitted with these tiles would maintain its as new look over many years.
Depending upon the colors and texture or design used on the walls and tiles etc, you can make a note and follow similar scheme while choosing the rest of the things for the bathroom. Check out what accessories are available in the bathroom and what is required. A detailed inventory should include accessories like soap dish, dispensers, toilet paper roll and stand, waste bin, mirror, stool, bucket and mug, brush holder, etc. These are functional accessories required for day to day use. All these accessories can be bought in sets with matching color and designs or you can buy them separately while ensuring that the color combination is in line with the overall theme and compliments the rest of the bathroom. The bathroom is not complete without the rest of the accessories including toilet seat covers, shower curtains, window curtains, foot mat and rug, napkins and towels etc. While you go looking for them, keep in mind the color combinations in line with the overall theme. Your bathroom is where you spend a lot of time everyday and should make you feel relaxed. It is important that the bathroom be decorated with the right color combination and design as you like it. It should make you feel good and should be functional too. A bit of time and effort spent while planning can give you the required end result.
If you are not interested in theme based bathroom decoration then you can think of the bathroom color, lighting and ventilation and changing of few bathroom accessories, But all these things should be done properly. Few of the decorating points are as follows: Paint: Think of the paint of the bathroom. You can use both washable paint and wall paper. Use the washable paint where water contact is more and use the wall paper where the water contact is less. If you are using the wall paper on the certain area of the wall which often comes into the water contact then the wall paper may be separated from the wall. Flooring: You bathroom floor should be easy to clean, water resistant and safe to use. For easy and quick bathroom do it your self project you should choose to use ant-static, anti-bacterial floor tiles which you can peel and stick over the existing floor easily without taking any help. Non-slip floor is always recommended to protect your family from injury due to fall. If you family is associated with small children and aging people then you should be very careful towards the safety of your family members.
Tile Format In either case the format and color of tiles can be used to great advantage with a little imagination. A bathroom revamp is not something normally done on a frequent basis so it is advisable to select size and color in line with current and projected trends to keep the bathroom as modern as possible, for as long as possible. Over the years the trend in tile format has been to increase both dimensions following the rectangular pattern. By comparison to 20 or so years ago when the norm was square 10 cms * 10 cms (although this format is still available). It is now common to encounter tiles in the 30 cms * 40 cms range and not unusual to find tiles of 30 cms * 60 cms and larger. So, potentially a good choice would be the larger format. Be aware that the small tile offers the advantage of being able to follow the contours of the walls much more so than the larger formats.
Natural tones provide a classic look. Luxurious shades of whites and creams work with any bathroom style from traditional to contemporary. Natural tones are also a fantastic base to which you can add color through accessories such as towels, soap dishes, and shower baskets and curtains. Cooler colors and tints create a calm, soothing environment. Shades of blues and greens are tranquil oceanic colours providing a relaxing element. Furthermore they help enhance a room making it appear more spacious (perfect for smaller bathrooms). Spa baths generally opt for these colors to emanate the feel of a personal sanctuary. Earthly colours provide warmth and comfort to your bathroom making it inviting and cozy. Colors such as oranges and reds are lively, great for re-energizing you each day. Theyre perfect too for larger bathrooms with lots of natural light
To jazz up its designs, set square tiles diagonally to create a diamond pattern instead of a classic checkerboard. Use a single color or alternate two neutrals of slightly varying saturation, for example a soft ivory and an almond. Its very important that you choose one that has some texture to it. Since the area is prone to water spills, a slick surface may present a hazard. A tile with a small amount of subtle texture will help prevent accidents. As well, for a luxurious touch designer bathrooms incorporate, you can warm up the cold one with electric floor heating. Turning your cold one into a warm surface will help you recreate the warm atmosphere of a comfortable spa. Your bathroom tiles can set the tone for the whole space. A dynamic flooring pattern or a deep wall color can make all the difference as you remodel a bathroom. The real key is not going overboard with tiles that make the room too busy.
