Color is a very powerful thing and the use of certain colors can be found everywhere. It can change our mood or stimulate the senses. If you are outgoing, bold living room colors suit you best. At the same time if you are the shy type, passive colors are your thing. It is important to use the right combination of colors to make your room more inviting and relaxing. If you can, do not use more than two colors in any given room. One color as the main color and the other as the trim. If you really want to choose the best combination of colors for your living room you should try using a color palette. They can easily be found at a local paint store and someone is always willing to assist you if needed. Remember that different colors are associated with different moods. Light blue brings tranquility, purple is power or royalty and yellow brings happiness.
Have you ever thought of how dull and boring would be our lives without colors? Well, if that thought has ever crossed your mind then imagine your living room without colors. Colors are very important at the time of decorating a living room. If you paint your living room walls in light and neutral shades then you will have many more options at the time of choosing the furniture for your room. Another advantage of doing so is that it will be easier to change furniture in the future should you wish to redecorate again and you will not have to change the color scheme. One thing you must think of is how you are going to have your floor. A very charming look for the living room is to have waxed hardwood floors. If this is not the type you like most, then you can go for a neutral color carpet and decorate it with a large attractive area rug in the center or use several smaller area rugs in the seating areas.
One of the most beautiful living rooms I have ever been in had a bright red, large, rectangular area rug in the middle of the golden oak floor. The red rug was stunning and simple, but brought energy to an otherwise nondescript room. Utilizing color on your living room floor will change the way your living room feels. Oftentimes we use bright colors as accent pieces, throw pillows, or even splashes of art on the walls. Occasionally we get up the nerve to paint a wall or even an entire room a bold brilliant color. But just as often we neglect to see the floor as a viable option to hold bright color. Bright colors bring energy and life to a room. Using a bright colored area rug will vitalize a living room and give a look to the space that people will remember.
When the room is too spacious, you want to draw it in. This can be accomplished by moving furnishings away from the wall, and creating smaller, more intimate settings. Arrange a sofa and chairs around a coffee table, where sitting arrangements will have you facing those who are visiting. This adds a personal, intimate feel to the room. Keep furnishings and accessories to scale - you want to use large, bulky furniture, large plants, and other decor that is of substantial size. Decorate the walls with large prints as well. Remember, in any room too many accessories and accents can look junky, no matter how small or large the room might be. For smaller rooms, keep accents bright and sunny. In larger living rooms, use a variety of patterns and prints such as stripes, geometrics and florals that coordinate with the rooms main color. They will add dimension and depth to the room, helping to diminish the cold atmosphere.
Pottery One great common element that both the Moroccan decor and the Midwest decor have in common is the use of pottery. Pottery, although slightly different in style, unifies the two and allows some transition between the two decors. If you have generic, monochromatic, large pots or vases in your Midwest theme, you will probably be able to use them in the Moroccan theme, as well. Be careful with the colors and any possible designs that may be on the pots. If there are designs or decorations, they should be generic enough that they will look at home in the new decor. Fabric Another element that you will want to consider is the fabric that is in the room. While there are many different types of fabric in a Moroccan decor, it is important that there are no traces of the Midwest checks or plaids in the new room.
If the living room has curtains on windows, design them in such a way that they allow enough direct sunlight to enter the living room. Natural light after falling on living room walls will reflect into deeper areas illuminating the corner dark areas. This technique is called as indirect or diffused light and is extremely effective in adding extra mood in living room color scheme without any additional costs. You can also make use of combination of color schemes in living room interior decorating. Another easy way to decide the color scheme of the living room is to follow theme such as a cool color scheme or hot color scheme. Which you should choose entirely depends on the actual climatic conditions surrounding your home. Its related to the amount of direct sunlight you receive.
