If you want to be daring, one can use two different colors. For instance, a bookcase can be painted in green and placed in a room with blue walls. However, there is also continuity throughout the house if same colors are used. A room with panels gives a chance to use opposite colors. One can also use paints to give effect to the panels if it is not there through the use of one color on the bottom third of the wall and another one on the upper wall. Creating an "accent wall" in clear colors for out of proportioned rooms can give a concurrent effect. However, if you wish to have your home an emotional effect, you might as well paint one big wall, start on each corner going to the middle, and leave a vertical space enough for an artwork to be hanged.
Take a look at your living room. Is it boring, bland? Does it need something new? Does it need an added pick-me-up? Why not try a bright area rug? It will brighten up your living room immediately. Even if the walls are white and the furniture nondescript, a bright area rug will energize the space. You could start by picking your favorite color. Is it blue, pink, red? Will it coordinate or compliment the colors in your living room? If so, find a bright, bold area rug large enough to fill the area you want it to and see what a transformation it brings to your living room. Bright emerald or rich cocoa will perk up a tired room. You may choose to use an oval rug or a rectangular one. You may decide that a plush rug works better for your space than a tightly woven rug. Whatever your choice in texture or sizes you should be able to find a rug that you like in the color you desire. You can build your living room decoration around the colored rug. You might find accent decorations in similar or complimentary colors.
A color scheme is simply a coordinated effort amongst all the colors in the room to create a group, or scheme that is noticeable from a distance. Think about the stripes on a traditional prison uniform, the color scheme of that is easily identifiable as black, and white. Some rooms have single color schemes like brown, or red, or white. While most have multiple color schemes. One of the most iconic schemes of all time is the hunting lodge scheme. This is a deep brown color that most of the furniture comes out to be, matched with a dark green wall paper. The brown and green is then matched with natural wood accents from handmade furniture. This color scheme works well together because the green and brown contrast one and other to a point that is pleasing to the eye. While not all will want to go with the hunting lodge color scheme, there are plenty of other living room color schemes that one can utilize. One popular living room color scheme is that of grey on the walls, and tan on the furniture. The grey helps to keep the furniture the focal point, while the tan keeps the eyes from becoming too overwhelmed with color, this is a good example of a modest living room color scheme. Regardless of the schemes that you choose to implement, the important thing is that you become cognizant of what living room color schemes are, and how to create one that works for you.
Tip Number One: Brighter Shades Make a Space Look Bigger If you have a large living room, then darker colors might meet your needs. Or else, a lighter shade of paint is better. Eyes are usually attracted to the darker areas of a room, therefore darker colored walls can push your line of vision downward. Consequently, you will feel like the partitions tend to be closer to you than they really are. On the other hand, soft colored walls force your eyes to look up, and the result is a more open and expansive perspective. If you dont have an excessively big live able space or you are making the effort to decrease the feel of the size of the living room, you will want to use brighter shades connected with color.
You may find that the rug provides a base of an entire decorating scheme, or perhaps you already have a decorating theme that you love and a colored rug will finish off the room. In the room I remembered with the bright red rug, they built the decorations around the red rug. Patriotic decor hung on the walls and red pillows sat on darker couches. They even found a coordinating oversized red chair that they bought to go along with the rug. The brightly colored rug freed them to make other bold choices in a room that was not structurally special but because of the decorating theme became visually spectacular. When you decide to add to a living room, or decorate from scratch, try utilizing a boldly colored area rug and see what possibilities open up for you. You may be surprised at the way your entire space changes because of the decision to decorate with a boldly colored rug.
Trying to tie all your living room colors together can be a little confusing since most of us learned about colors with our jumbo crayon boxes as children. The actual fusion of multiple colors especially when working with brown curtains can have a homeowner perplexed in no time at all. Finding that satisfying combination, that will exude a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere will elude most, unless they do a little research. The typical easy way out is to mix lighter shades of brown, like taupe, sand, gray-brown, khaki, and varying shades of beige. This will not cut it in certain designed themes and the following should help. One theme is to put together your brown curtain panels with additional muted yellow, and medium orange. This is a throw back design style from the early 1970s.
