Pottery One great common element that both the Moroccan decor and the Midwest decor have in common is the use of pottery. Pottery, although slightly different in style, unifies the two and allows some transition between the two decors. If you have generic, monochromatic, large pots or vases in your Midwest theme, you will probably be able to use them in the Moroccan theme, as well. Be careful with the colors and any possible designs that may be on the pots. If there are designs or decorations, they should be generic enough that they will look at home in the new decor. Fabric Another element that you will want to consider is the fabric that is in the room. While there are many different types of fabric in a Moroccan decor, it is important that there are no traces of the Midwest checks or plaids in the new room.
This is why ceilings are often painted white, making them feel higher. Dark colors draw the walls of a room together, so people rarely paint rooms in very dark shades. If your living room is small, go with lighter shades. On the other hand, if you have a large living room, especially if it feels too big, a darker color can make it feel more homey and intimate. No matter what shade of color you choose, the way to make it work is to put your efforts into creating balance. Unless youre going for a monochromatic look, pick a wall color that contrasts with your furniture and decor. Balance is very important with dark paint colors. When a room has lots of windows, wide trim and light colored furniture, a dark color can be the best idea possible.
If you want to be daring, one can use two different colors. For instance, a bookcase can be painted in green and placed in a room with blue walls. However, there is also continuity throughout the house if same colors are used. A room with panels gives a chance to use opposite colors. One can also use paints to give effect to the panels if it is not there through the use of one color on the bottom third of the wall and another one on the upper wall. Creating an "accent wall" in clear colors for out of proportioned rooms can give a concurrent effect. However, if you wish to have your home an emotional effect, you might as well paint one big wall, start on each corner going to the middle, and leave a vertical space enough for an artwork to be hanged.
Modern Wall Art and Modern Wall Decor Wall art and wall decor can transform any dull living room into a chic, suave and sophisticated space. If the room is made of modern design, there can be nothing more perfect than using metal wall decor and home accents. However, do not overdo it. The idea of using modern wall art is to have that sleek and minimal appeal. Black and white go well with the minimalist design. Though metals are the most popular types of modern wall art you can also use other materials to go with the design of the room. Wall Fireplace Decorating your living room with modern wall decor or modern wall art can create an amazing focal point. In case you dont have an actual fireplace, which is commonly used as the centerpiece for most living room design concepts, why not include a wall fireplace in your decorating plans? This is one of the most an innovative modern wall decor that can replace a traditional fireplace while giving you the convenience of hanging it anywhere you like as well as providing you a number of different colors and styles to complement your living room color scheme. A wall fireplace will give your home a well deserved appreciation and will add uniqueness to the overall concept of your living space.
You may find that the rug provides a base of an entire decorating scheme, or perhaps you already have a decorating theme that you love and a colored rug will finish off the room. In the room I remembered with the bright red rug, they built the decorations around the red rug. Patriotic decor hung on the walls and red pillows sat on darker couches. They even found a coordinating oversized red chair that they bought to go along with the rug. The brightly colored rug freed them to make other bold choices in a room that was not structurally special but because of the decorating theme became visually spectacular. When you decide to add to a living room, or decorate from scratch, try utilizing a boldly colored area rug and see what possibilities open up for you. You may be surprised at the way your entire space changes because of the decision to decorate with a boldly colored rug.
No matter how light or dark or rich colors are, about half of them are warm and the other half are cool. Youll be able to tell pretty easily which category each color falls into, but dont get distracted from the way it will make the room feel by how pretty they are. Cool colors will give your living room a more impersonal, peaceful feel, while warm ones create an atmosphere of warmth, hospitality and excitement. Cool colors often coordinate with blue, and include pure white, black, gray, blue, all shades of purple, pink, and pastels. Warm colors have a closer relationship with gold, such as cream, brown, golden yellows, orange, orangey reds, and most greens. One of the unique and often unnoticed qualities of color is that it can psychologically change the size of the room. Light colors make rooms feel bigger.
